Location mapping, and Tributes to the Victims of Road Fatalities
Our mapping project aims to ultimately and respectfully mark every road fatality ever recorded within the British Isles with a Tulip icon representing the location where a life was lost.
Only by a visual representation of these sterile and hidden statistics is the full impact portrayed of just how many people have lost their lives on our roads.
Our mission is to turn every statistic behind every Tulip on the map into a lasting memorial dedicated to the life that was lost at that tragic location.
Explore the map and click on the individual Tulips to see how we are creating a respectful online representation of the growing number of roadside floral tributes.
Within hours of a fatal accident on our roads the carnage can be cleared and the traffic flow restored. Vehicles pass unhindered and totally unaware of the devastation that has befallen some family only a short time before.
The Tulip Community serves those unseen people that leave flowers soon after a fatal accident or on a heavenly anniversary of a loved one losing their life at that location.
By uncovering the hidden grief of these tragic events and converting the statistics into a human story, we aim to provide a more impactful message in the name of Road Safety and give at least some meaning to all the lives that have been lost.
As road users we all pass by those anonymous floral tributes. Many of us will spare a few moments of thought as to what story lies behind the represented tragedy.
Anyone who has lost a loved one in a tragic accident will know that they too have become victims.
Loved ones now have the opportunity to personalise their Tulip icon by displaying their memories of the life lost at that location and hopefully help in their grieving process.
